Treating Potential Vision Problems in Children
Preschoolers and school-age children who have vision problems that are untreated can have a tough time in school and competing in sports. They may not be able to read as easily or keep their eye on the ball. Vision problems in children can also go unnoticed, which can lead to the issues getting worse.
While vision is often screened in school, it is not a substitute for a comprehensive pediatric eye exam with your optometrist. Experts recommend that children have their vision checked when they are:
- 6-months-old (for a screening)
- 3-years-old
- Kindergarten age
- Every year while in school, whether your child wears glasses or not
